There are two fics I wrote for challenges in the last year. The first, technically more than a year ago, was for the 2010
sga_santa , which I love participating in. It's called Silence Speaks Louder than Words, and uses an idea I'd had rolling around in my head for a while. Unfortunately, I didn't have the time to write the ending as I would have liked, so it feels a bit rushed/a bit too "easy" for me...at some point I'd like to revisit it and edit that section to make it more detailed. I do love the rest of it, however. You can find it here:
Silence Speaks Louder than WordsThe other fic was written for the 2011
sgareversebang , which means that the writers are inspired by the artists, rather than the other way around. I was able to pick a piece of artwork that I personally found fascinating, and it was beautifully done. It ended up presenting quite a challenge for me, and though the story went in a few unexpected directions, I really enjoyed writing it and like what I submitted. Of course, I had to find a bit of a stopping point, because I could have gone on for many more thousands of words otherwise...it does leave the story a bit open-ended. The plus side of that is that it leaves plenty of room for a sequel or sequels (or even a prequel) -- which was the number one comment I received. I would certainly love to go back to that AU and keep going eventually. You can find it on either the LJ or DW reverse bang sites here:

PoyekhaliI absolutely recommend that you take a look at the accompanying artwork first -- it's really an amazing piece with a lot of little details.

Apparently, it's that time of year again...
Rather than pondering long and hard about what I really want for Christmas, I copy/pasted my requests from last year, since that time I *did* think long and hard about it -- as evidenced by the fact that the list itself is long -- and my tastes haven't changed. So. Now I'm all signed up and realizing that, apparently, SGA Santa is the only time I actually get anything written.
I'm trying to take comfort in the fact that I've been feeling the itch to write lately anyway, and had just read over a few in-progress stories to see where I was going with them...maybe I'll be *really* bold and get something written in addition to my SGA Santa story -- heck, maybe even before the SGA Santa story...but I suppose I won't be holding my breath. (One of the stories that's been on my mind lately -- in addition to the usual abundance of McSheps -- has been one I plotted out five years ago or more for Highlander...not to put the cart before the horse or anything, but I don't even know where I would post it if I ever finished; I haven't read in the fandom the last few years, and on LJ I only ever posted to a drabble community...hmm. Suppose that problem will have to come later, if I ever finish.)
Well then, I suppose I'll thumb through those story ideas again and see what happens...hmm...McShep angst, McShep hurt/comfort, McShep Harlequin, McShep hurt/comfort, McShep hurt/comfort...

As 2010 is now upon us, the fics for the
sga_santa have been revealed and I can post a link to the fic I wrote. So here it is: a McKay/Sheppard established relationship with angst and hurt/comfort, rather appropriately entitled
Mend (or uncreatively, depending on your POV!).
SGA Santa is so much fun -- I really enjoyed it this year, and hope my recipient liked her/his story (still haven't heard from her/him yet).

Just signed up for the 2009
sga_santa!! I'm *so* excited to do this again, it's always so much fun to read the great fics everyone gets (I'm still bummed that I ended up missing the sign-up deadline last year, since apparently if I'm not under a deadline I don't write...*sigh*...so many ideas and half-completed fics, so little chance of actually finishing them). Perhaps this is the motivation I need to get writing again -- it's appalling to realize I haven't posted a fic in more than a year and a half (oh RL, how you torment me so)! I have several near(ish) completion...I think I'll go take a look through my fic folder...

This was written for the
reel_sga Romantic Comedy Challenge several months ago. I'm only just now getting the link up...
Title: Must Love Dogs and Genius Astrophysicists (But Not Citrus)
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Prompt: Must Love Dogs
Rating: R
Category: AU, romance
Word Count: ~3,850
Summary: Forced by his sister back into the dating game, can Rodney McKay find the one for him – the one who must love dogs?
Disclaimer: If you had yourself a Quantum Mirror, perhaps you’d find a universe where SGA belongs to me. Alas, this one isn’t it. *pouts*
Author’s Note: This is…not at all what I was expecting. I like it anyway.

Title: Temptation
Rating: R
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Spoilers: S4 Midway
Word Count: ~650
Summary: A Midway post-ep. He’s considering another shower, just because he can, weighing that option against a run, because he hasn’t been able to really stretch his legs – or do much of anything, really, for weeks -- when the door slides open and Rodney walks in.
Disclaimer: If you had yourself a quantum mirror, perhaps you’d find a universe where SGA belonged to me. Alas, this one isn’t it. *sigh*

Title: Blaze
Pairing: McKay/Sheppard
Rating: PG-13
Spoilers: none
Summary: “Not bad for a first contact.” “Oh, now you’ve jinxed us. I’ve been waiting for something to go wrong since yesterday.”
Author’s Note: Written for the 2007
sga_santa.
2of7wanted McShep h/c with Rodney getting whumped, and he does, but this ended up being more about John (who insisted it be written from his POV, and that what hurts one of the boys hurts the other).

Christmas fic!
Title: Five Presents Rodney Thought About Giving John for Christmas, and One He Actually Did
Rating: PG-13
Word count: ~1,600
Spoilers: nothing serious, but I do mention The Brotherhood and The Return I.
Summary: Pretty much exactly what the title says.
Disclaimer: If you had yourself a quantum mirror, perhaps you’d find a reality where SG:A belonged to me...alas, this one isn’t it. *pouts*
Author’s Notes: Several weeks ago, I read a newspaper article about gifts for the office. Now, I’ll admit to reading/watching things with an SGA slant, but for this, I didn’t even have to
try…all of the “thought about” gifts appeared in the article.
